Melanie Lopes
Melanie always had an interest in learning about the human body and how it worked. She started her academic route with a BSc in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph. She later attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and graduated in 2005. She has always been active and had an interest in Sports Chirorpactic and later went on to become a sports chirorpactic fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences in 2011 while concurrently doing her MSc in Kinesiology at York University.
She currently runs a home practice in Toronto that caters to patients both young and old as well as an active population along with her RMT. Having a home practice allows her to do locum placements in Ontario covering other chiropractors as well as volunteer with various sport teams and events, such as the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. She has been actively learning both Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL) and is happy to use her new found language skills to cater to broader range of patients.
She recently volunteered for 4.5 weeks in the WSC clinic in Moca, Dominican Republic and thoroughly enjoyed her experience working in the clinic and being immersed in Dominican culture. She is already hoping to return back in the future!
