Richard Brown
Richard Brown qualified as a chiropractor (AECC University College) in 1990. He worked in continuous private practice for 25 years, latterly as clinical director of a multidisciplinary clinic in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. Whilst in practice Richard had a particular interest in the non-surgical, non-pharmacological management of spinal pain and disability. He also worked extensively in elite sport and served as a chiropractor in the polyclinic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Richard has undertaken a number of leadership roles within the chiropractic profession, including President of the British Chiropractic Association (2009-2013), Secretary and Secretary-General of the European Chiropractors’ Union (2010-2015), and Secretary-General of the European Academy of Chiropractic (2010-2015). He is currently the Secretary-General of the World Federation of Chiropractic, a position he has held since 2015.
Richard has expertise in professional standards and ethics relevant to chiropractic and serves as an expert witness in clinical negligence and regulatory matters. He has a Master’s degree in law from Cardiff University (2009). He continues to advise national associations of chiropractors in legislative, scope of practice and regulatory issues.
In 2013, Richard founded and was the inaugural Chair of Trustees of the Chiropractic Research Council, a UK-based charity dedicated to expanding research capacity relevant to chiropractic for the benefit of patients and the public. He continues to serve as a Trustee on the CRC Board.
Richard has been awarded Fellowships of the Royal College of Chiropractors, European Academy of Chiropractic, British Chiropractic Association and is an lifetime honorary Fellow of AECC University College. He is also the recipient of a number of awards recognising his contribution to the chiropractic profession.
Richard is a member of Eurospine, the Spine Society of Europe, and is a faculty member of its European Diploma in Interprofessional Spine Care. He is widely published and is frequently called upon to speak at international meetings and conferences.
Richard joined the World Spine Care Board of Directors in November 2019. He resides in the UK and Canada, is married and has two adult daughters.
