A Fond Farewell to Dr. Pierre Cupif
At the end of this month, the team at World Spine Care (WSC) will say a fond farewell to Dr. Pierre Cupif, our Clinical Supervisor who has been responsible for running the WSC Clinic in Moca, Dominican Republic. On behalf of the many patients, volunteers, and friends who have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Cupif, we wish Pierre our best wishes for his next adventure.
Dr. Cupif’s journey to becoming a WSC Clinical Supervisor began after meeting Aline Bidlingmeyer, a previous WSC clinic supervisor in Botswana and the Dominican Republic; her desire to help the people in need influenced Dr. Cupif to consider similar work after completing his chiropractic program. Growing up in the culture of Madagascar, Dr. Cupif was fond of experiencing different cultures and languages leading him to join the WSC Clinic in Moca, Dominican Republic.
During his time in the Dominican Republic, Dr. Cupif has said that he learned to be more adaptive and social with his patients. And though he has admitted that it was not easy to work in another country as a non-native speaker, Dr. Cupif shares that he found the adventure and the experience of engaging with various patients all worth it as he met a lot of unforgettable people. He had the opportunity to help those who needed spine care, met people from various backgrounds, taught patients how to protect their bodies, and shared the experience and the culture of the Dominican Republic.
“The volunteer experience will change you as a person,” says Dr. Cupif.
On behalf of all of us at World Spine Care, we thank Dr. Cupif for his hard work and dedication.
