Botswana to expand the WSC spine care program nationwide!

In March, Dr. Geoff Outerbridge and Dr. Stefan Eberspaecher met with the Botswana Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) to discuss the future of the WSC Spine Care program in Botswana. The Botswana MOHW did not hesitate to offer full financial support to all our clinicians currently serving the people of Botswana and to support the expansion of the spine care services to all the district hospitals across the country.

Dr. Eberspaecher has gone to Botswana to create and supervise a new spine care center at Princess Marina Hospital, the main referral hospital in the capital of Gaborone.  He will also be involved in further expansion of the spine care program across the country as new clinical positions become available across the district hospitals over the next 2 to 3 years.   His excellent work and experience at the Moca clinic in the Dominican Republic over the past two years have positioned him as the perfect person to take on this exciting new expansion.

This is a very exciting step for WSC and the Botswana MOHW as it realizes our common goal of sustainability and scalability well ahead of the anticipated schedule of expansion.  We thank the Botswana MOHW for its vision and support in the creation of a high quality, integrated, evidence-based, sustainable spine care program for the people of Botswana.
