Dr. Patricia Tavares appointed as Director of Clinics

Dr. Patricia Tavares has been appointed the Director of Clinics for World Spine Care. Dr. Tavares has been a member of the board of World Spine Care Canada and the Clinic Coordinator in Moca, Dominican Republic. She will now oversee the clinical activities for all of the World Spine Care clinics in Botswana, India, Ghana, the Dominican Republic, and Canada.
In her role as Director of Clinics, Dr. Tavares has been developing training modules to implement the Global Spine Care Initiative model of care. “This is a triaging system and care pathway,” she explains. “It allows us all to speak the same language with respect to spinal disorders and delivers the right care to the right person at the right time.”
Clinical volunteers will work with Dr. Tavares to implement the Model of Care in each clinic context as may be necessary for their respective patient base. This will allow World Spine Care to understand what classifications and subclassifications are characteristic of each clinic and how the different clinics compare with respect to those classifications. “Once implementation experience has been gained and the model is well integrated and consistently used by volunteers, this will provide a roadmap for use in other underserved areas in the world.”
In addition to her work with World Spine Care and the Global Spine Care Initiative, Dr. Tavares is an assistant professor and primary clinician at CMCC. She also serves on the board of the Ontario Chiropractic Association, the College of Chiropractic Orthopedists Canada, and the Guideline Executive Committee of the Canadian Chiropractic Guideline Initiative.
