This #GivingTuesday, Support World Spine Care
Tuesday, December 1, 2020 marks #GivingTuesday: a global movement for giving, taking place each year on the Tuesday after Black Friday. Considered the “Opening day of the giving season,” it is a time when charities, companies, and individuals come together to support causes they believe in.
This #GivingTuesday, we hope that the cause you choose to support is World Spine Care.
With a mission to improve lives in underserved communities through sustainable, integrated, evidence-based, spine care, World Spine Care resonates for many reasons.
Supported by a group of dedicated and passionate spine care professionals, researchers, and specialists who represent three Boards of Directors, an Executive Committee, a Research Committee, and clinicians who volunteer to provide patient care at 3 clinics, World Spine Care is an organization that survives only because of its dedicated volunteers. It is through the volunteer experience at World Spine Care’s clinics that we can see, firsthand, the impact our work has on the community.
“One of the most humbling things about working at the clinic was seeing how much patients appreciated the care they received from us,” said Clinical Supervisor Dr. Mufudzi Chihambakwe. “At our clinic in Mahalapye, Botswana, we would get patients from all over the country, some spending hours in buses and cars to come to their appointments. The burden of disease is great in low-income communities and hence the impact of relief from this burden is far-reaching.”
The Need is Great
World Spine Care exists to fill an urgent need. “There are so many underserved areas of the world – and in these areas, there is a preponderance of heavy physical work and resultant musculoskeletal injuries which, if left unattended or treated improperly, can significantly change the lives of individuals and their families,” said Dr. Jean Moss, President, World Spine Care Canada. “If we can provide good, evidence-based care, we can improve these lives and those of their families. We can truly make a difference.”
World Spine Care is dedicated to continuing to provide care – even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to do all that we can to empower patients to access the tools and resources they need to live their life pain-free.
But we can’t do it alone. This #GivingTuesday is YOUR chance to support our vision: a world in which everyone has access to the highest quality spine care possible.
