World Spine Care will be participating in the 2020 Skoll Virtual Forum this Wednesday, April 1, 2020. The Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship seeks to accelerate entrepreneurial solutions to the world’s most pressing problems by uniting social entrepreneurs with essential partners in a collaborative pursuit of learning, leverage, and large-scale social change. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Forum has been cancelled. The Skoll Foundation is organizing a Virtual Forum, consisting of independently-organized Virtual Ecosystem Events taking place between March 30-April 3, 2020.

Pain and Related Disability: Making the Vulnerable More Vulnerable

Over 1 billion people in this world are partly or severely disabled. The greatest cause of disability is pain specifically low back and neck pain.

Pain and related disability impact the most vulnerable people in the world: Women, the Elderly, the Lowest Quintile of the population and the poorest nations.

It impacts personal wellbeing and quality of life of the person who is disabled but also the community or country in which the person lives in the form of loss of productivity, stress on the health care system, support of the disabled person, loss of tax payments and reduced family and community functioning. This makes the most vulnerable people and communities vulnerable to the impact of pain and disability.

World Spine Care is committed to reducing the disability related to the spine and musculoskeletal pain and developing a model of care to reduce the incidence and impact of this condition.

This panel discussion will review the impact of pain and disability in vulnerable populations and current models to reduce this impact.
